Detailed Itinerary:
Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu
Welcome to the city of temples!
Upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), you will be met by our representatives and transferred to the hotel in Thamel. The distance from the airport to Thamel is around 6km and takes you around 25 minutes.
Today is the beginning of Tihar, a great festival for Nepalese people to honor the God of death, Yama. Tihar generally is celebrated for 4 to 5 days depending on the Nepalese calendar. First day is Kaag Tihar, festival for crow, messenger of Yama. People offer some foods and ‘tika’ to the crows and wish for bringing the good news for them.
In the evening, enjoy some walks around the streets meeting local people and stopping by the classic restaurants for snacks and drinks. Explore on your own!

Day 02 Sightseeing and Kukur (Dog) Tihar
In the morning, you will be met by our tour representatives and have some time to celebrate the 2nd day of Tihar, festival for dogs, agents of Yama. Offer some flower garlands and tika to the dogs and feed them some foods.
After lunch you will have half day sightseeing to the UNESCO sites in Kathmandu. At first, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and get amazed with its fine arts and architecture. Also known as Basantapur, it was a palace of Malla king at around 12th century. The only living Goddess, Kumari is also situated in its premises.
In the afternoon, visit Swayambhunath. Resting on a hillock 3 km west of Kathmandu, Swayambhu is one of the holiest Buddhist stupas in Nepal. It is said to have evolved spontaneously when the valley was created out of a primordial lake more than 2,000 years ago. This Stupa is the oldest of its kind in Nepal and has numerous shrines and monasteries along with fountains and art gallery in its premises.
In the evening, you can explore the nearby places on your own or have a rest at your hotel.

Day 03 Laxmi Puja, Gaai (Cow) Tihar and Bhaktapur Tour
Today is the third day of Tihar, known as Laxmi puja and Gaai (Cow) Tihar. People offer delicious foods and garlands to the cow. In the evening, people celebrate Laxmi Puja by offering prayers and Puja. Houses all over the country are lit up with extra lights and decorated with garlands. The Goddess of Wealth, Laxmi is welcomed to people’s homes by making a path of footprints leading into the house. All lights are kept on and the doors and windows kept open to let in the goddess. Rows of lamps are placed along windows and doors, with the strong hope that Laxmi, the Goddess of Wealth notices and enters. The day also belongs to the cow that represents Laxmi.
In the morning, you will celebrate Gaai Tihar with the locals and visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, another UNESSCO sites in Kathmandu. The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is located in the current town of Bhaktapur, also known as Khwopa, which lies 13 km east of Kathmandu. While the complex consists of at least four distinct squares (Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square and Pottery Square), the whole area is informally known as the Bhaktapur Durbar Square and is a highly visited site in the Kathmandu Valley.
Later in afternoon, you will have sightseeing to Changunaryan the temple dedicated to Lord Bishnu. You will see all the 9 forms of Lord Bishnu and the architecture used in the ancient Nepal.
Enjoy evening with locals and celebrate Laxmi puja with some chanting and dances with the children playing Deusi.

Day 04 Bhai Tika in Kathmandu and Drive to Nagarkot (2175m)
Bhai Tika is the day people look forward to. In some communities, sisters and brothers accept tika from each other. Bhai means brother in Nepali. Brothers and sisters honor each other and the sisters pray to Yama, the God of Death, for their brothers' progress, prosperity and longevity. The brothers bring gifts to their sisters and the festival ends with feasting. It is also a tradition to go from house to house singing Tihar songs and bestowing blessings, whereupon the residents of the house give money in return.
Today you will celebrate Bhai Tika with the locals and get some tika and garlands. Also, accept the gift and don’t forget to give some money in return. Enjoy the feast with the locals and feel blessed with long life and peace ahead.
In the afternoon, you will drive to Nagarkot, one of the hill stations near Kathmandu for the overnight stay. You will enjoy the sunset from Nagarkot and stay overnight in resort.

Day 05 Hike to Dhulikhel (1550m) – 5 to 6 hours
In the morning, don’t miss the sunrise view from Nagarkot. You will have the stunning view of the mountains that extend from Annapurna to Everest region. After lunch at your resort, start your hike to Dhulikhel. The trail is mostly downhill with some section being uphill climb as well. On the way, you will spot different kinds of flora and fauna along with lush forests, unique settlements, terraces and meadows. On reaching Dhulikhel, you will be transferred to your hotel and stay overnight.

Day 06 Drive back to Kathmandu- Explore on your own
You will drive to Kathmandu after your breakfast in the hotel. It takes around an hour to reach Kathmandu. After lunch explore Kathmandu and get ready for your departure next day. You can enjoy some street foods and do some shopping as a memento.

Day 07 Final Departure
Today you will be transferred to the Tribhuwan International airport for your flight back to your home country. We hope you had an amazing time in Nepal.
