BlueSheep Charity Treks
The BlueSheep Charity Trek was born out of a dream to make a difference through adventure. Our treks offer guests a once in a lifetime experience trekking in the Himalayan region, whist making a positive impact to the lives of others. In 2013, we collectively raised AUD $25,000 with 25 compassionate trekkers from Australia, for our chosen charity, Maiti Nepal.
The NGO is globally popular for their incredible rescue work of forced prostitution victims, as well as fighting against the malpractice. To signify this campaign success, we have adopted the word ‘Maiti’ for future treks as a signature of our giving back initiatives.
For us at BlueSheep, charity treks were born out of a passionate dream to make differences.
Working in the tourism industry, we obviously travel a lot. And through this experience, we have observed the need of support and empowerment in various communities.
You can challenge yourself while achieving something great for others. No trip on Earth equals trekking the Himalayas, yet it is even more enticing when we do it with a great cause.
Upcoming Charity Treks
Everest Base Camp Charity Trek has been our flagship for several years - and with a huge success. As these charity treks have been able to bring so much positivity and empowerment to the community, we are continuously developing new ways to give back to the world. Participate to be a part of the change.

Charity Treks from the Past
Our success stories from the past might be what you exactly need to read. With the coordination with great charities around the world, it was possible for us to plan and execute each charity campaign with success.
The inaugural Maiti Trek to Everest Base Camp in 2013 saw 25 guests collectively raise AUD$25,000 for their chosen charity, Maiti Nepal – a Nepalese NGO that does incredible work to eradicate the trafficking and slavery of Nepali women and children. Melissa Bridge, founder of Encore Travels, Australia came up with the idea and ran it through her Giving back through Adventure initiative with Everest legend Karma Geljen Sherpa at the helm. We’re very happy to partner with Melissa and hope she’ll be back again soon!
In April 2017 15 intrepid trekkers from across the world set off on a mission to get to Everest Base Camp (and back!) and to take as many pictures as possible on the way 😉 They did it! And they raised over £22,000 for UK based Wellbeing of Women. Nice work team!
This team of HDFA’’s Board members and a few of their major philanthropic friends journeyed way out East, through tea plantations, jungles and up the sides of the mighty Tamur to see HDFA’s work in the village of Ghunsa. Upwards and onwards they went to reach the third highest mountain in the world – Kanchenjunga – the northern Base Camp. The team had incredible views, stunning weather and a very warm welcome in this less-trekked region. A heli out with a wee whizz past Everest on the way back topped off a magical trip! Well done guys – so far over $120,000 contributed to sustainable community development in the region.
Not to be outdone by their colleagues we supported 13 fine friends in getting to Base Camp and back. Although later in the season these guys faced some tough conditions: deep snow, freezing nights and a very bouncy plane ride. Well done team from the UK based Alzheimer Society.
In 2019, yet another group members from The PwC Foundation set out on the Mount Everest Base Camp Charity Trek Campaign – a continuation to their annual charity treks with Bluesheep Journeys. Here are some highlights of the trip.

Charity Treks have always been our top most priority. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, we are halting the 2020 Everest Base Camp Charity Trek.
Safety has always been first priority – with rise in COVID-19 cases, we are halting all the trips with full confident that you will be with us in NEPAL next year.
Of course this isn’t the end to BlueSheep Charity Treks. In fact, we are working with our team to develop more such trips in the future, as the world opens up. We want to help as many in need as possible. After such a hard time, we know that our help will be appreciated.
COVID-19 case numbers are on the rise in Nepal hovering 5000+ confirmed. Inadequate and public health crisis is growing beyond country’s capacity to respond hardly hitting economy.
Your support to Nepal during the time of profound crisis is the life-saving gift. Please do not hesitate to donate to any local Nepali NGOs that you know are fighting with this tough time.
Even BlueSheep has cancelled the last charity trek, we are actively working for fundraising relief through Pasang Lhamu Foundation. We want to warmly welcome you to visit the site if you are interested.
